Understanding the discount calculator
Percentage discounts hide a small trap when they stack: "25% off, plus an extra 20% off" is not 45% off. The second discount applies to the already-reduced price, so the combined saving is 40% the calculator computes the true effective discount so signage can't mislead.
The same logic explains why a discount and a price increase of the same percentage don't cancel: 25% off followed by 25% up lands at 93.75% of the original. Percentages always act on the current base, not the one you started from, and that asymmetry is worth internalizing anywhere money is measured in percent.
