Understanding the salary calculator
Comparing job offers means putting pay on the same footing, but employers quote it every which way hourly, weekly, monthly, or annual. This calculator converts freely between them using your actual working hours, so an hourly wage and a salary become directly comparable. The annual figure assumes you work every scheduled week; if you take unpaid time off, real hourly pay is a little higher than the simple division suggests.
The numbers here are gross pay, before taxes and deductions. Take-home pay is meaningfully lower once federal and state income tax, Social Security, and Medicare come out often 20 to 35% depending on income and location.
